Certified Nursing Assistant or Caregiver
Do you find meaning in caring for others? Do you appreciate lives overflowing with wisdom?
The Monastery of St. Gertrude is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant or Caregiver to join our Sun Porch Care Team. A CNA is preferred; however, we welcome applicants with caregiving experience—or the desire to learn—and would support a caregiver interested in becoming a CNA.
This is a distinctive opportunity to provide attentive, relationship-centered care in the sisters’ home—a peaceful, supportive setting shaped by dignity, respect, and Benedictine hospitality.
The role:
- Support each sister’s dignity, choices, abilities, spiritual life, and participation in community.
- Assist sisters with personal care, mobility, meals, and other activities of daily living.
- Help maintain a calm, safe, comfortable, and welcoming home environment.
- Follow individualized care plans and directions from the nursing team.
- Work collaboratively with nurses, caregivers, and other members of the Monastery community.
- Observe and promptly report changes in condition, safety concerns, or care needs.
We are looking for: A dependable, compassionate person who listens well, treats others with patience and respect, and works cooperatively as part of a care team. CNA certification and experience caring for older adults are valued but not required. Training is available, and we are willing to support a caregiver who wishes to pursue CNA certification.
We are offering: Flexible scheduling based on the needs of the care team and the availability of the successful applicant. Full-time or part-time employment may be available, with opportunities on day, evening, night, and weekend shifts. Pay is based on experience and certification, with shift differential pay for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. Benefits vary by employment status and may include accrued paid time off, health insurance, a Health Savings Account, a 401(k) retirement program with employer contribution, and a 15% gift shop discount.
