Born to Run: Nine-year-old Emma Strommen will participate in her fifth Raspberry Festival Fun Run on August 2.

She just turned nine years-old, and yet Emma Strommen will run in her fifth Raspberry Festival Fun Run on August 2. The day before she will have completed a 25K (16 mile) event at the Idaho Endurance Runs in Crouch, Idaho. Her runs this summer will put her at over 330 races in her lifetime so far, which includes half marathons and longer events such as the Pickled Feet run in which she ran 100.58 miles in 48 hours!

You might say she was born to run. Her parents took her to a 5K event when she was 3, intending to push her in a stroller. She refused to stay in it. She has been running ever since, at a sub-7-minute pace for her 5Ks.

The 23rd Raspberry Festival will be Sunday, August 2 in Cottonwood, Idaho at the Monastery of St. Gertrude, 465 Keuterville Road. Raspberry Festival is a fundraiser for the Historical Museum at St. Gertrude that features fun activities for the whole family including a pancake breakfast, grilled hamburgers, raspberry shortcake, jam and products, an arts & crafts fair, live music, a kids’ carnival, quilt show, car show, hand-crafting demos, the Fun Run & Walk, chapel tours, museum visits and more.

You may not be able to keep up with Emma Strommen, but you can certainly join in her enthusiasm on August 2. Register for the Fun Run & Walk at www.MyRaspberryFestival.org
