Not Your Grandma’s Bible Study: Creative Approaches to Scripture

Do you think Scripture is important but perhaps a little boring?  Do you think that Bible study is a straight-forward process of finding answers?  Have you tried Bible studies or commentaries but just couldn’t get into them?  If you answered “yes” to any of these questions this retreat is for you.  We will approach Scripture through reflection, and imagination, with our heart and a willingness to be stretched while taking it seriously as the Word of God.  There are many ways to engage with this life-changing book and we’ll try several.  Come and experience the Bible like you never have before.  No experience needed.

Sister Teresa was elected prioress of the monastic community at the Monastery of St. Gertrude in November 2023. She made her first monastic profession in 2000 and began working in retreat ministry. As part of an outreach program, she traveled across Idaho, Washington, and Oregon facilitating retreats as well as organizing meaningful experiences for often overlooked groups – parish secretaries and women pastors, for example – at the monastery. In 2007-8, Sister Teresa earned her Certificate in Monastic Studies from St. John’s University in Minnesota.
