Katie Warren

Katie S. Warren, MAEd. is a spiritual director, art facilitator, and aspiring artist. She provides spiritual direction with the Western North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church and is in private practice. Katie leads art and group spiritual direction and provides individual spiritual direction. She completed the Sursum Corda Spiritual Directors Formation Program and is a trained SoulCollage® Facilitator. Katie is a member of Spiritual Directors International and a spiritual director’s peer group.

Katie began practicing centering prayer in a group beginning in 2013. She continues participation in group centering prayer as well as having a daily practice.  In 2016 she attended a 10-day, mostly silent, centering prayer retreat at St. Benedict’s Monastery Retreat Center in Snowmass CO. Katie has led workshops on the topic of centering prayer.

Most recently, Katie spent the month of November 2021 at the Monastery of St. Gertrude in Cottonwood, ID as the artist-in-residence. Having first encountered The Artist’s Rule in 2012, embracing the daily rhythm with the community at the Monastery of St. Gertrude enriched her perspective on how the practices of monastic life can support the creative life.
